Coleus

The kaleidoscope foliage.

Coleus is pure, unfiltered color — and it doesn't even need to bloom to steal the show. Velvety leaves in riotous combinations of crimson, lime green, burnt orange, deep burgundy, and bright pink make it one of the most visually dynamic foliage plants available indoors or out. Fast-growing, endlessly varied, and surprisingly easy to keep looking spectacular.

Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light indoors; strong light keeps the colors most vivid and saturated. Too little light causes the striking patterns to fade toward plain green — give it the brightest spot available.

Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged; allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings. More thirsty than most foliage plants — don't let it dry out completely or it will wilt dramatically (though it recovers quickly when watered).

Humidity/Temp: Appreciates moderate humidity and consistent warmth; thrives between 65–80°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F which cause rapid decline.

Pet note: Toxic to pets if ingested; can cause digestive upset and mild skin irritation in sensitive animals.

Natural variation: Each plant is unique; leaf shape, color combination, and pattern distribution will vary dramatically and beautifully by variety.
