ZZ Plant
The bulletproof beauty.
The ZZ Plant is the ultimate plant for anyone who wants maximum impact with minimum effort. Deep, waxy, almost lacquered leaves march up gracefully arching stems in perfect formation, bringing a polished, sculptural elegance to any space — and doing it in conditions that would defeat almost any other plant. Low light, irregular watering, neglect — the ZZ handles it all without complaint.
Light: Thrives in medium to bright indirect light but tolerates low light conditions exceptionally well — one of the very few plants that genuinely performs in dim, windowless spaces. Avoid direct sun which scorches the glossy foliage.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings — the thick, potato-like rhizomes underground store water for extended periods. Water thoroughly, then leave it alone. In winter, water as little as once a month.
Humidity/Temp: Content in dry or standard home humidity; thrives in comfortable indoor temperatures between 60–80°F. Tolerates air conditioning and heating vents better than most tropical plants.
Pet note: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested; wash hands after handling as the sap can cause mild skin irritation.
Natural variation: Each plant is unique; stem count, leaf size, and the depth of the glossy dark green coloration will vary naturally.
